Solomon Islands Professional Diploma of Accounting
Timeline
2022 – current
Objectives and outcomes
In 2022, Monarch Institute partnered with the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA), the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to develop and deliver the country’s first professional accounting qualification—the Professional Diploma of Accounting (PDA).
Designed to address a critical shortage of qualified accountants and strengthen financial governance, the program provides a practical, locally relevant pathway for building professional capability across the sector. Through a four-module structure covering key areas such as financial reporting, management accounting, taxation, and law, the PDA equips participants with the skills needed to deliver compliant and transparent services within the Solomon Islands context.
Now a cornerstone of the nation’s financial sector reform, the program is helping build a sustainable, locally qualified workforce and reducing reliance on external expertise.
