This course is designed to be completed within 12 – 24 months however you have up to 24 months to complete the course.

There are two main types of assessments: written, and practical. The written assessments include short answer questions on theory and practice topics.
The practical assessments are workplace simulations. You’ll be put in the role of a conveyancer at a medium-sized practice. You’ll get to work on a variety of client files, as well as practice management tasks. The details mean you get great practice without the pressure of working with real clients. It’s the ideal way to ease into a higher level of responsibility.

There aren’t any formal entry requirements. But to make sure you get the most out of training with us, the following enrolment process applies:
Once we receive your enrolment, our friendly course consultants will touch base to undertake a pre-training review to ensure the training is right for you.
For students without an equal or higher level qualification, there is a short language, literacy and numeracy quiz you complete online.

QLD and ACT do not issue conveyancing licences. Conveyancers must work for a legal practice in these states.

PEXA is an online platform that is used by lawyers and conveyancers to handle property transactions electronically. Through the Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing you get access to the PEXA training platform and a wealth of resources to help you learn and prepare for the real world of conveyancing.
Get qualified for registration
The units covered in this course satisfy the requirements of a Conveyancer’s Licence in VIC, TAS, NT, NSW and SA, and a Settlement Agent’s Licence in WA. Note that QLD and ACT do not issue conveyancing licenses.

Each state licenses conveyancers separately, so where you plan to practise determines what you need. You must first complete an approved qualification and then apply to the licensing authority in your state or territory. Our course meets those educational requirements through three streams, one covering VIC, TAS, WA and NT, one for NSW and one for SA. Queensland and the ACT don’t issue conveyancing licences, so conveyancers work for a legal practice in those jurisdictions.
While some of the learning and assessment examples throughout the course are based on Victorian legislation and conveyancing practice, the conveyancing course teaches you how to interpret and apply legislation and regulatory requirements; skills that are fundamental to conveyancing practice across jurisdictions. Your selected stream ensures you complete the units required for the jurisdiction in which you intend to practise.
Conveyancing assistants who want to qualify for a licence in their own right make up a large part of this course, as do people entering property work from other fields. This course may suit you if you pay close attention to detail, follow processes carefully and enjoy guiding clients through a major decision. You don’t need any formal qualifications to enrol, so your background matters less than your interest in property law.
You’ll learn to take instruction from clients, interpret search results, prepare legal documents and finalise transactions. In addition, you’ll study the law that governs property work, covering contract law, property law and the Australian legal system. You’ll also apply the principles of trust accounting and comply with the tax obligations attached to each transaction.
Yes, you can study online without set class times or fixed start dates, working through the course materials and videos at any time that suits you. There are no exams. Your written assessments cover theory and practice topics. In your practical assessments, you’ll take the role of a conveyancer at a medium-sized practice, where you’ll work through client files and handle practice management tasks.
You’ll work through realistic residential and commercial transaction scenarios, taking each one from the initial client instructions through to settlement. You’ll interpret search results, prepare the legal documents each transaction requires and meet the relevant tax obligations. You’ll also train on the PEXA platform, which lawyers and conveyancers use to complete property transactions electronically.
Conveyancers specialise in property transfers, handling the documents and settlement work involved in buying and selling property. Solicitors hold a broader legal practising certificate and can act across many areas of law, including property. In Queensland and the ACT, conveyancing work can only be performed by solicitors, while other states and territories allow licensed conveyancers to provide conveyancing services independently.
You could work as a conveyancer in a legal practice, specialising in property law and client files. Once you hold a licence, you could run your own business as a licensed conveyancer or as a settlement agent in Western Australia. You could also move into practice management, where you’d run the business side of a legal or conveyancing firm.
