You could manage the movement and storage of goods for a retailer, manufacturer, construction firm or healthcare provider. Roles you could apply to include:

• Logistics analyst or logistics engineer

You could also manage production or materials handling with more experience, since both depend on the same skills you’ll use to plan and schedule operations.

We designed this diploma both for experienced logistics workers who want a qualification to match their expertise and people entering the industry for the first time. If you already coordinate stock, freight or warehouse teams, you’ll recognise much of the material and gain formal recognition for the skills you use daily. Though experience helps, you don’t need any to enrol.

You’ll learn to plan and control how goods move from their point of origin to the customer, covering storage, freight and the information that travels with each shipment. Across 15 nationally recognised units, you’ll develop the management skills these roles depend on, since most logistics positions involve coordinating teams, suppliers and schedules at once.

Yes, you’ll access everything through our learning management system. All your assessments are delivered online too. We designed the course to be completed within 12 months, though our training plan allows up to 30 months if you need it. Your trainer will answer questions by phone, Zoom or email between 9am and 5.30pm from Monday to Friday.

Logistics covers the movement and storage of goods, including freight, warehousing and distribution to the point of consumption. Supply chain management takes a wider view, coordinating suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers across the whole network that delivers a product. Logistics is one part of that network, which is why many professionals work in both areas as their careers progress.

You could work in hospitality, retail, insurance, construction, healthcare, manufacturing and transportation. The freight and logistics industry is an essential component of the Australian economy, accounting for approximately 8.6 per cent of GDP. That breadth lets you move between sectors throughout your career, since you’ll apply the same planning and coordination skills in each one.

You’ll study at diploma level, so you’ll learn to plan and coordinate operations instead of only carrying out day-to-day tasks. Managers in this industry handle staff, budgets, suppliers and schedules at once, so you’ll develop the skills those responsibilities call for. Some universities may also grant credit towards a logistics or supply chain degree for the units you complete with us, so check with the one you’re considering.

It depends on how you like to work. If you enjoy coordinating complex operations and solving problems under time pressure, then logistics might be a good career path for you. This diploma covers the planning and management side of the industry, which can strengthen your application for roles that involve running operations. You’ll study the course entirely online at your own pace so you can keep working while you complete it.
