I’m the Accounting/Bookkeeping Course Co-ordinator, and a trainer and assessor, here at Monarch Institute. I’ve got quite a few years’ experience as an accounting trainer and assessor with Australia’s largest RTO colleges.

As a Certified Practising Accountant (Fellow), I’ve got over 37 years’ accounting and business experience. I’ve worked both locally and overseas, across diverse industries, with some of the world’s largest multinational corporations. In these roles I have held directorships, senior financial management and company secretarial positions. This means I’ve had responsibility for all aspects of accounting and finance.

My experience in accounting and finance is complemented by more than 16 years’ involvement in the IT industry. I’m still working in the industry, with Australia’s leading software provider, to deliver specialised business software training to business operators in the SME sector.

What makes me jump out of bed each morning?

The opportunity to help make the world a better place through helping educate and encourage learners and business operators achieve their goals and consequently improve the living standards of millions of people worldwide. But just before I do all of that, I’m a coffee lover, so the enticement of a great morning coffee also helps a lot!

I currently work in a mid-tier accounting firm as a senior accountant, and love it. I have over four years’ experience working as a business service accountant and tax consultant. I look after a portfolio of clients across various industries, and that’s really interesting. Observing different sector dynamics at play is fascinating. My skills include preparing financial statements, preparing tax returns, BAS, budgeting, cash flow analysis and tax consulting.

What makes me jump out of bed each morning?

I’m passionate about eating food. I love to try different cuisines in restaurants, and enjoy cooking as well. The bed time discussion generally starts with, ‘…what are we going to eat tomorrow’?

"No choice we can make as a nation lies between our history and our geography. We can hardly change either of them. They are immutable. The only choice we can make as a nation is the choice about our future."

I am a qualified Chartered Accountant. I started out with the large chartered practice Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Since then I’ve built a career in financial services, working with both large and small chartered accounting firms, financial services businesses both in Australia and overseas and a mid-tier industry superannuation fund. I’ve also got a track record of similar roles in a volunteer capacity in the local community; I’m the treasurer of two community organisations. I am particularly interested in assisting and guiding students in the financial services arena with their studies and career development.

What makes me jump out of bed each morning?

I lead a busy and involved life, although more and more I’m reliving my childhood through the activities of my son Oskar! Together with my wife and Oskar, I enjoy the year-round wonders of the outdoors so close to Melbourne’s doorstep, while still hanging onto an inner city cosmopolitan life style, hopefully the best of both worlds. A bike, kayak, tent and xc skis are my most treasured possessions!

I’m a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Financial Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Management. With fifteen years of experience teaching accounting and bookkeeping as a part-time lecturer at a University and TAFE, I’m still loving my job.

I started my accounting career in Sydney with one of the world’s largest accounting firms, and had ten years of experience working in both the public and commercial accounting professions prior to commencing teaching. I understand the challenges of studying online, having gone back to university as a mature age student to complete an online Bachelor of Science. I’m now undertaking a Master of Science (Bioinformatics) at Melbourne University, so I empathise with students juggling work, family and study commitments.

What makes me jump out of bed each morning?

The long list of jobs I have to do each day… family, pets, work, study! When there is a spare moment, I enjoy walking, cycling, reading (not just textbooks!), fiddling around in the garden and painting/sketching.

I have enjoyed a career in the bookkeeping and accounting industry for over 16 years, and I’m proud to have owned several successful small businesses during that time. As a qualified and Practicing BAS Agent, I bring a solid and first hand understanding of the bookkeeping space and the technologies that support business processes. I’m is passionate about working with students, supporting them on their learning journey into successful careers as bookkeepers and accountants.

I also mentor bookkeepers working toward registering as BAS agents as they acquire their required hours in a supervised environment. I’m passionate about lifelong learning and improving what I can offer my students, which is part of why I’m also completing the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at Deakin University.

What makes me jump out of bed each morning?

Family life and the enjoyment of helping others (with a strong cup of black coffee in hand) are great enticers for me to spring out of bed every day. I enjoy a busy and fun family life with my four young adult children and my partner, kayaking on the beautiful Port Phillip bay or just reading a fiction book reclined.

I’m a registered BAS agent, holding vocational and tertiary qualifications in bookkeeping, accounting, training and psychology. I’ve had 28 years’ experience in the financial services industry. This has included multiple roles for a large Australian bank and a small Australian regional bank. I run my own bookkeeping company in NSW alongside my role as a trainer here at Monarch Institute.

What makes me jump out of bed each morning?

Nothing. I’m not a morning person! Once the first espresso of the day kicks in it all changes. As the ‘pawrent’ of two adorable dogs, I adopt their outlook on life. That is, live in the moment and always have a good stretch before doing anything. I enjoy singing really, really loud, living by the motto ‘just because I can’t sing, doesn’t mean I won’t’.
